Description

Nos. 1 and 1A on Market Street in Ulverston are two shops with living space above, likely built in the mid-19th century, although they contain elements from the 18th century and have been altered in the 20th century. The building features painted render and a slate roof, with two low storeys and three bays. The first-floor windows are sash style with plain reveals, and there is a small fourth window on the left. On the ground floor, there are two shop fronts; the left one has two pilasters with sunken panels and a sign-board above its timber fascia, while the right one has one pilaster and an altered fascia. A doorway between the two shop fronts provides access to the upper storey.
