Description
The Sun Hotel is a public house located on Market Street in Ulverston. It likely dates from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and late 20th centuries. The building features painted scored render and a slate monopitch roof. It stands three storeys tall and has five bays. The windows have plain reveals, projecting sills, and are sash windows, with those on the ground floor lacking glazing bars. The right-hand bay on the ground floor includes a canted bay window set within a wide opening. The door, located in the third bay, is framed by a painted stone doorcase that has engaged Tuscan columns and a pediment. A brick chimney is positioned to the left of the right-hand bay. The interior has been remodelled.
