Description

This is a pair of shops with living accommodation above, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The exterior is roughcast, with painted stone dressings and a slate roof. The building is three storeys high. Each shop front has two bays. The upper-floor windows are glazing-bar sash windows with narrow stone surrounds and projecting sills. The ground-floor shop fronts have been altered, although the left-hand shop includes two painted limestone piers with capitals and bases, framing a passageway entrance. The rusticated front to the right appears to be a late 20th-century alteration in painted cement mortar. A plain eaves band sits above a timber modillion gutter cornice. Gable chimneys are prominent.
