Description
46 and 48 Market Street are two shops with accommodation above, dating from the early to mid 19th century. They feature painted scored render and a slate roof, rising to three storeys. The buildings are nearly identical, each with one bay, although No.46 has an additional window to the left on the first floor. The ground floors have timber shop fronts with a continuous fascia and cornice, along with adjacent doorways. Below each shop window, there is rock-faced limestone. The right-hand shop, No.46, includes a bowed window. The upper storey windows have plain reveals and projecting painted stone sills. No.48 has a glazing bar sash on the first floor and a 6-pane sash on the second floor, while No.46 features sashes without glazing bars on the first floor and a 6-pane sash on the second floor. There are chimneys on both the left and right sides.
