Description
This building, located at the east end of Blackstock's baker's shop in Alston, is a shop with a house above, dating from the mid-18th century with later alterations. It is constructed from coursed, squared rubble and features a graduated stone-flagged roof with a stone chimney at the west end. The front is three stories high and has two bays. The shop area includes a part-glazed door on the left and a 19th-century window with fluted uprights on the right. Access to the house is via steps with wrought-iron scrollwork and handrails, leading to a panelled door at the first-floor level. There is a single sash window to the right of the door and two additional sash windows above.
