Description
The Bookshop is a house that now functions as a shop on the ground floor, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and features a cement-washed scantle slate roof with gable ends. The building has large stone rubble chimney stacks on the gable ends, with rendered brick and stone rubble shafts. The layout consists of a two-room plan, likely originally with a cross passage positioned to the left of the center. Built into the side of a hill, it has three storeys on the front elevation and two at the rear. The front facade has a regular arrangement of two windows, all with timber lintels. The ground floor includes a 19th-century two-light casement window with glazing bars on the left and a late 19th-century six-pane shop window on the right, along with a plank stable door to the left of center. The first and second floors feature two 19th-century two-light casement windows with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected, but the exterior remains unaltered.
