Description
1, Steeple-End Fold is a house that was formerly a shop, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble with gritstone dressings, and features rusticated ashlar quoins on the north side. The roof is made of stone slate, and there are stone gable end stacks.
The building has three storeys and a single window front. On the east elevation, there is a shop front with a three-light window to the south that has plain sash windows. To the north, there is a doorcase with a modern glazed door, and above it, a moulded cornice supported by decorative scroll brackets. Above this, there is a three-light flush mullion window with plain sashes, and a similar window at the eaves. The north elevation features pairs of two-light flush mullion windows on each floor, although the mullions have been removed from the ground floor windows.
This building is included for its group value.
