Description

This is a terrace of four houses, now shops with residential accommodation above, dated 1771. It is located in the Parish of Hayfield, Church Street. The building is constructed of coursed gritstone rubble with quoins, featuring flush gritstone dressings. The roof is covered with stone slates, and there are stone gable and ridge stacks. The terrace is three storeys high and five bays wide. There are five doorcases, each with large jambs and imposts. Modern shop windows are placed to the north of each doorcase. Above the doorcases, there are three-light flush mullion windows, with similar windows on the second floor. A datestone between the eaves windows above the northernmost door is inscribed 'SB 1771'.
