Description

This is a mid-19th century house on New Mills Road, Hayfield. It is constructed of gritstone ashlar with projecting quoins, and has a slate roof. A stone cope is visible on the western gable, along with a western stone gable end stack. The house features a moulded stone cornice and a low parapet with a low central pediment. The building is two storeys high and has three bays, with the central bay slightly projecting. A wide, central doorcase has a fluted architrave with projecting imposts and a keystone, topped by a segmental head. There is a plain segmental fanlight above a 20th-century door, which itself has two narrow side lights. Plain sash windows flank the door, and three similar sashes are above. A plain sill band runs across the first floor. The building is included on the list for its group value.
