Description
This guide post, located north of Farlam Farm, dates from 1910 and features a trade plate from Richards & Son, Leicester. It is made of cast iron and has a tall circular column with ribbed and fluted designs. The post includes two direction arms with shaped ends; the left arm displays the cast letters "BOON HILL ¼ MILE," while the right arm shows "TALKIN 1 MILE/CASTLE CARROCK 2½ MILES" in smaller letters. The column also has the cast letters "POST NO BILLS" and the number "108" on its base. Most of these early guide posts were replaced in the 1920s and 1930s by posts from Cumberland County Council.
