Description
Talkin Church is a church built in 1842 for Thomas Henry Graham. It is constructed from snecked red sandstone ashlar set on a chamfered plinth, with a graduated slate roof featuring eaves modillions, coped gables, and kneelers. The church is designed in the Norman style and consists of a nave and chancel with five bays. It has a prominent high west bellcote, a south projecting gabled porch, and a corresponding north vestry. The entrance features a plank studded door flanked by engaged Norman columns and topped with a round moulded arch. The round-headed lancet windows have continuous hood moulds that are interrupted by buttresses. The interior is plain and lacks decoration, with a tripartite east window and all windows fitted with plain glass. There are remains of box pews in the north-west corner and a wall plaque commemorating two men who fell in the Great War.
