Description
Farlam War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, with additions for the Second World War and the Korean War. It is made of granite and is located in the churchyard of St Thomas a Beckett Church. The memorial features a Latin granite cross with a wreath carved in relief at the center, set on a roughly-hewn plinth. This is supported by a four-sided plinth with a moulded cornice, which rests on a square two-tiered base. Surrounding the memorial is a low stone kerb.
The dedication is inscribed on a carved scroll on the front face of the rusticated plinth in leaded lettering, stating: "IN HONOUR OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918." Below this, the names of the fallen are listed in order of first name. The dedication for the Second World War and the Korean War is inscribed on the left face, reading: "AND IN THE WAR 1939-45 (NAMES) KOREA (NAME)."
