Description
This is a late 16th-century house with alterations from the 17th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The house has limewashed rendered walls, a Welsh slate roof with coped gables and kneelers, and rendered chimney stacks. It is two storeys high, originally with two bays, and includes a single-storey, two-bay extension to the right and a 19th-century extension to the rear under a common roof. The original walls are over one metre thick, and feature 20th-century entrances and windows. A section of the original rear wall remains as an internal wall. The house was mentioned in the 1603 Gilsland survey as the stonehouse belonging to John Hall.
