Description

Drigg Hall, along with its outbuildings and front garden wall, is a house dating from the late 18th century, with later additions. The main structure is roughcast with ashlar and brick, while the barns are made of dressed stone. The building stands two storeys high with an attic and features a three-bay centre flanked by projecting bays; the left bay houses a stable, and the right bay was formerly a separate house. The top of the building has a frieze and cornice, along with a central pediment that includes a traceried bull's eye. The flanking bays are constructed of brick with stone dressings and quoins. The central section has windows with plain surrounds, which are sashed and include glazing bars. The central entrance features a Tuscan aedicule with a flush-panelled door. The left wing has a window with small-paned glazing, an entrance, and an elliptical-headed loading door. The right wing contains an entrance and narrow sash windows. The bank barn to the right is made of brick with stone dressings and has an elliptical-headed barn entrance. The barn to the left is constructed of dressed stone, featuring an entrance with a timber lintel and a datestone dated 1795; its return has entrances, round-headed openings, and a roundel on the gable. The attached stone front garden wall is adorned with scrolls flanking the gate.
