Description

DRIGG AND CARLETON B5344 SD 09 NE (south side) Drigg 7/15 Drigg Hall, outbuildings and front garden wall 8.9.67 - II House, outbuildings and wall. Late C18, with later outbuildings. Roughcast with ashlar and brick, dressed stone to barns. 2 storeys with attic, 3-bay centre with flanking projecting bays, that to left a stable, to right formerly separate house. Top frieze and cornice and central pediment with traceried bull's eye. Flanking bays of brick with stone dressings, quoins. Centre has windows with plain surrounds, sashed with glazing bars. Central entrance has Tuscan aedicule with flush-panelled door. Wing to left has window with small-paned glazing, entrance and elliptical-headed loading door. Wing to right has entrance and narrow sashes. Bank barn to right is brick with stone dressings and elliptical-headed barn entrance. Barn to left of dressed stone, entrance has timber lintel, and datestone: 1795; return has entrances, round-headed openings and roundel to gable. Attached stone front garden wall has scrolls flanking gate.
