Description
The Croft is a house with attached barns, built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features roughcast stone with ashlar dressings and slate roofs, arranged in a U-plan. The house is two storeys high, with lower outbuildings. The south elevation has three bays, with recessed and lower outbuildings on either side; part of the left outbuilding has been incorporated into the house. The building has quoins, and the windows are modern small-paned casements, except for the first bay on the ground floor, which has been replaced by a canted bay window. The central entrance is round-headed, featuring an open pediment and a small-paned glazed door. There are ashlar gable-end stacks with caps. The left outbuilding has had modern windows added.
On the north elevation, there are sashed windows with glazing bars, and those on the first floor have opening lights. The central bay features a round-headed stair window with pilasters and a key, along with intersecting glazing bars at the top; there is a small window below and to the right. Narrow flanking bays have entrances. The barn to the left includes a stable entrance with paired doors and an end lean-to outbuilding. The barn to the right has a central entrance similar to the left, a sashed window to the left, a double mounting block to the right, and an end round-headed recess with a bowl, along with a later garage wing that is in keeping with the original design.
