Description
Waterside House is a farmhouse dating from 1694, as indicated by the lintel which reads "T & ED/1694". The building is constructed from limewashed stone rubble with some ashlar dressings and features a slate roof, with the south gable wall being slate-hung. The east elevation consists of three bays, with the first bay being a later addition.
The first bay has a projecting privy beneath a single-pitch roof, with an entrance on the north side. The ground floor includes a casement window in the first bay, while the second and third bays have single-chamfered-mullioned windows with two and three lights, respectively. There is likely a blocked fire window in the third bay. On the first floor, the first bay has a sashed window with single glazing bars, and the second and third bays have two-light windows, with a blocked light in the third bay.
The entrance between the second and third bays features a richly moulded architrave with two sunk ogees on the lintel, which is decorated with lettering and relief work, leading to a half-glazed door. The first bay has its own entrance, and there are two gable-end stacks and a cross-axial stack. The rear of the house has an outshut under a catslide roof, which projects further at the northern end, along with a lean-to outshut to the north and a stack in the roof slope. Above, there is a two-light window with a chamfered light. Although the interior was not inspected, it is reported to contain stop-chamfered beams, a 17th-century door, and a winding stone stair.
