Description

BARTON NY 42 SE 7/93 Cross Dormont Farmhouse and attached barn

  • II House and outbuilding. Lintel reads: "RW 1682". Limewashed stone with slate roofs. L-plan; 2-storey house has lower range extending to west. West elevation of 2 bays with lower range to south. Sashed windows with single glazing bars, that to 1st bay of 1st floor with all glazing bars. Entrance with dated lintel and studded door to 2nd bay. 2 gable-end stacks and cross-axial stack. East elevation has varied fenestration, one chamfered window. North elevation of wing has 3-bay former house, 1st bay part of house, has sashed window above; 2nd and 3rd bays have 2-light single chamfered-mullioned windows with dripstones; stable door. Bank barn to west has 5 cow house doors with ventilation silts. Lower outbuilding to west has gabled wing; segmental headed entrances. South elevation has ventilation slots and ramped barn entrance.
