Description
Schofield Farm, now known as The Three Owls Bird Sanctuary, is a farmhouse and adjoining barn dating from the mid-17th century and later. It is constructed of coursed stone with a stone slate roof and brick stacks. The building features a 2-unit, 2-storey plan with the barn located at the rear. The front elevation has two bays and includes stone quoins. The original entrance on the far left has been blocked, and a new central entrance has been created. There is one double chamfered window opening with a hoodmould that is partly obstructed by the door, and this opening has been extended to the left at a later date. Another window, which was originally a three-light design, now has no remaining mullions. The eaves have been raised at some point to allow for a 10-light "weaver's window," although four of the lights are blocked. The building also features gable stacks and a two-arched-light double-chamfered window at the rear. The barn includes a semi-circular cart entrance with doors on either side.
