Description
This is a farmhouse, now divided into two houses, located in Lower Tenterfield, Rochdale. The main part of the building dates to 1777, although a left-hand wing is from the mid-17th century. The 1777 range is constructed from watershot stone, with a stone slate roof. A datestone marks the year and includes a plaque commemorating "The Reverend John Barlow M. A. Vicar of Leigh 1777," along with a square window above the entrance. The 1777 range features four three-light, flat-faced mullion windows, and a blocked taking-in door to the right gable. The earlier 17th-century wing has a stone plinth, stone quoins, and a double-chamfered, five-light window with an ovolo-moulded hood mould to each floor of the gable. The side elevation of this wing includes two chamfered three-light windows, an inserted taking-in door, and a substantial projecting chimney stack with weatherings. Inside, the fireplace features chamfered jambs and a heavy stone lintel, and the beams are also chamfered.
