Description

Hollins Farmhouse and Barn is a Grade II listed farmhouse and barn, with the court cupboard dated 1736, although the house may be older, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of roughcast and limewashed stone rubble, topped with slate roofs. It is a long, low structure with the house located at the eastern end.

The south elevation of the house features two storeys and two bays. The ground floor has top-hung casement windows with vertical glazing bars, while the first floor has small windows with pivoted upper panes, along with an inserted window in the first bay. There is an entrance with a 20th-century door in the second bay, a cross-axial stack, and a large squat gable-end stack.

To the west is the barn, which has a small light at the eastern end. The last gable end is recessed to the right of the stack and includes dripcourses. The north elevation features an outshut under a catslide roof, with windows that have small-paned fixed glazing, and a gabled wing with a pivoted casement on the right return. There is an entrance and a casement window to the west.

The barn includes a stable entrance, a barn entrance with paired doors, a gabled wing with a stable door, a pitching hole, and a return outshut under a catslide roof, which has a six-fielded-panel door, likely from the house, an end stable door, and a small window. Inside the house, there is a plain court cupboard inscribed with "DS 1736" along with later cupboards to the side and above. The barn features triangular trusses.
