Description

Crows Nest and its outbuilding, likely built in the early 18th century, is a house constructed of roughcast stone with a slate roof. The main building is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with an outbuilding of one bay located to the right. The windows vary in style; the first bay on the ground floor features a sashed window with glazing bars and a dripstone, possibly indicating an earlier door or window above. The second bay has a horizontally sliding sash with glazing bars, while the third bay includes a fire window. On the first floor, the first two bays have windows with small-paned fixed glazing, with the second bay having a pivoted upper part. The window in the third bay has a metal casement, and the fourth bay features a sash window with single glazing bars and horns. The entrance between the first and second bays has a plank door with a half metal cog above it, and the entrance to the fourth bay has a half-glazed door. A stone cross-axial stack is located in the third bay, complete with a base and cornice. The outbuilding has a plain entrance with a timber lintel and a small light on the first floor, while the return side has an entrance at first floor level due to the slope of the ground, which was formerly a large entrance. The rear of the building is built into the slope of the ground. The interior has not been inspected but is said to contain features of interest.
