Description

HARLEY C.P. KENLEY ROAD SJ 50 SE (north side) 4/56 The Crow's Nest II

Cottage. Probably C17, encased in stone late C18 and extended late C20. Local gritstone rubble partly concealing timber frame, plain tile roof. Original 2-cell plan with integral stack to left, extended to right, also in gritstone, in late C20. One storey and attic; irregular fenestration, 3-light C20 casements, 2 to original part (one with mid-C19 segmental brick head and one with C20 segmental brick head) and one to C20 extension, also with segmental head, 3 late C20 gabled eaves dormers and boarded door to far left, integral end stacks. Interior: not inspected but noted as having timber framed cross walls, one running along axis of building with ogee- arched doorway; chamfered cross beam to left ground-floor room.
