Description
The Hawk's Nest is an 18th-century house located on the west side of The Street in Wattisfield. It features a timber-framed structure that is rendered with simple comb pargetting in panels and has an old plaintile roof. The house has two storeys, with a main range and a rear wing made from matching materials. A paired dentil-type cornice adds detail to the exterior.
The front of the house has three windows on each storey, all of which are 3-light casements with transoms. Two of these windows are 20th-century replacements, while the others are original, featuring pintle hinges and square leaded panes.
There is a wide, single-storey enclosed porch that is also rendered and has a shallow-pitched roof with plain bargeboards. This porch contains an entrance door with six raised fielded panels set in a moulded rectangular surround. Above the porch, there is a porthole window with cross glazing-bars.
The house has various 20th-century extensions to the rear and right. It was formerly known as 'The Crow's Nest'.
