Description

Street Farmhouse, originally built as a single house in the 18th century, and possibly incorporating earlier elements, was later divided into two cottages. It is timber-framed and rendered, with a clay pantile roof. The house has a 1½-storey height and a three-cell plan. It features an internal brick chimney stack with a plain, rebuilt red brick shaft, and a further stack to the left, integrated into the timber frame. Two dormers, with segmental arched heads and rendered cheeks, contain 2-light casement windows with a single bar to each light. On the ground floor are two 3-light casement windows of the 20th century. A wide, open, gabled porch with a pantile roof shelters two plank doors set side by side. The interior reveals 18th-century timbering, including primary braces, bisected studs, and joists laid on their edge. A section of the front wallplate appears to have been raised. At the rear is a 2-storey timber-framed and rendered range with a shallow-pitched pantile roof and old casement windows; this was formerly a separate house, but is now linked to the main front range.
