Description
Tudor Cottage is a house dating from the late 15th century. It is timber-framed and rendered, with an old plaintile roof. The building is 1½ storeys high and has a three-cell plan, which originally included an open hall but now features an internal chimney stack. The chimney stack has a plain shaft made of old red brick. There are two dormers on the roof, each with three-light 20th-century casement windows.
On the ground floor, there are three Edwardian projecting bays; two of these have three-light casement windows and hipped roofs, while one has a two-light window with a conical roof. The interior of the former hall area has been divided into separate rooms. The crown-post roof features a crown post that is embedded in a later partition wall. The octagonal shaft has a shaped base with triangle stops and a keeled ring above, topped with a moulded section that has remnants of embattling, and is supported by four-way bracing at the head.
The hall has a plain inserted ceiling with a chamfered main beam and unchamfered joists. The parlour has a similar ceiling and includes a reinstated open fireplace with a new timber lintel. On the rear wall, there is an 18th-century three-light casement window with a transom and square leaded panes, which is now enclosed by later rear extensions.
