Description
Leeming House Hotel is a house that has been converted into a hotel, dating from the early to mid 19th century, with extensions added in 1973. It is constructed of dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features hipped slate roofs. The north-west elevation has two bays, with the second bay projecting outwards by one bay, and a 20th-century flat-roofed extension to the right. The building has quoins and a first-floor sill band, along with wide eaves. The windows are sashed with single glazing bars and have architraves; those on the ground floor feature a frieze and cornice. The second bay includes windows on the left return and a large port cochere at the front, supported by Tuscan columns on plinths, with an entablature and balustrade. The round-headed entrance has a mask above the key and paired half-glazed doors. The extension conceals a service wing, which has a timber bell turret topped with a pyramidal roof and a weather-vane. The varied chimney stacks have tall chimney pots. The north-east elevation consists of four bays, with the fourth bay recessed, and shares similar architectural details. The south-east elevation has three bays, with a five-bay extension to the left. A verandah features four pairs of cast iron columns with traceried designs, supporting an ornamental cast iron balustrade. The ground floor has French windows, while the extension includes Tuscan columns on the verandah and balustrades for the first-floor balcony and parapet. The interior retains features such as a staircase and fireplaces.
