Description

Manor Farm is a house with an attached barn, dating from the early 18th century, with some early 19th and 20th century elements. The building is constructed of brick with ashlar stone dressings and has a 20th century plain tile roof featuring ashlar coped gables with kneelers and two brick gable stacks.

The west front of the house is two storeys high with an attic and consists of five bays. It has a brick plinth with a chamfered ashlar set-off and a painted ashlar band at the first floor level. There is a moulded and painted ashlar eaves cornice. The central doorway features a 20th century six-panel door with an overlight. Flanking the doorway are two glazing bar sashes, and above them are five more glazing bar sashes. All openings have gauged brick flat arches with painted ashlar keystones, with the upper ones being narrower. The windows retain early 18th century sashes with thick glazing bars. Above, there are three 20th century hipped roof dormers, each containing a two-light casement.

The attached barn to the north is also made of brick and has a shallow-pitched hipped roof covered with graded Swithland slates. It features a single front wall stack and another stack on the rear wall, along with a dentilled brick eaves cornice. The west front of the barn is two storeys high with six irregular bays. To the right is a round arched doorway with a plank door, and to the left is a glazing bar sash. Following this are two blind windows, a blind doorway, and another blind window. Above, there is a small margin light sash to the left of a glazing bar sash, followed by two blind windows. There is also a loft doorway with a plank door and a blind window beyond. All openings and blinds have cambered arches, except for the left doorway.
