Description
No 1 The Green is a house that was formerly a house with an attached cottage, dating from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of brick and timber framing, topped with a thatched roof featuring coped gables and gable stacks, the left stack being external.
The west front has two storeys and consists of four bays, with the fourth bay on the right being an addition. The off-centre doorway features a six-panel door and a 19th-century open latticed porch with a thatched canopy. To the left of the doorway is a three-light casement window with a cambered arch, and to the right is a similar window followed by a vertical break in the brickwork and a blocked doorway with a cambered arch. Further to the right, there is another three-light casement window with a flat arch. Above these, there are three three-light casement windows, all of which are 20th-century replacements.
The rear elevation displays visible 18th-century close-studding with rendered infill in the central bay of the first storey.
