Description
Vergers Cottage is a house dated 1737, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of brick and features a slate roof with a coped west gable, along with two gable stacks and a ridge stack. The south front has two storeys and three bays, with an off-centre doorway that has a cambered arch and a four-panel door. To the left of the doorway is a three-light casement window, and to the right is a two-light casement window. Above these, there are three two-light casements, all of which are 20th-century casements with cambered arches. The west gable end wall displays the initials IW and the date 1737 in burnt headers. The north elevation features a single-storey stone porch, likely from the 19th century. An early listing notes that the interior includes a bressumer supported on an early 17th-century bracket with strapwork carving, as well as a staircase with turned balusters and a moulded newel and handrail.
