Description
Holmbrook Hall Bridge is a road bridge that carries an approach drive to Holmbrook Hall over the River Irt. It dates from the late 18th century but likely includes the substantial underwork of an earlier bridge, which may be referenced by a datestone from 1635. The bridge features ashlar sandstone abutments, arch lining, and copings on the parapet wall, along with red brick parapet walling. It has a single span aligned north-south and features a depressed pointed arch with a chamfered drip mould above. The shallow parapet walls have ashlar pitchback copings that do not follow the profile of the arch below, incorporating a flattened central section. A datestone with the inscription 'W. 1635 M.' is located below the central parapet on the west side.
