Description
Greenlands is a large house that originated as an 18th century farmhouse and was extended around 1820 for Thomas Brocklebank. The exterior features incised stucco with corner pilasters and a cornice with a blocking course. It has graduated slate roofs, hipped at the north end of the main block with stone coping at the south end, and diagonally-set chimneys. The building is two storeys high and has five bays arranged in a 1:2:2 pattern. The entrance includes a part-glazed door within a surround that has a false 4-centred head, with a sash window to the left and two above. There are tripartite sash windows on each floor in the bay set back on the left, and a tripartite sash and single sash window on each floor of the older, lower bays set back on the right. A large stair window at the centre rear has a false 4-centred head with interlaced glazing bars. All sash windows have glazing bars within architraves. Inside, there are panelled doors in architraves, a curved teak stair with scrolled tread ends, a moulded handrail with a spiral curtail, and cast-iron splat balusters.
