Description
Cambeckhill is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century and was altered in the mid-18th century. It is constructed from dressed red sandstone and features a Welsh slate roof with brick chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and consists of four bays, with an adjoining barn that has five bays, all under a common roof. The entrance is framed by quoined and chamfered stonework, featuring a weathered lintel stone and a 20th-century door. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are surrounded by plain painted stone. The barn includes 20th-century openings and wooden casement windows on the ground floor. The rear of the house likely dates back to the 17th century and incorporates stone from the nearby Roman Wall, with five small sandstone blocks displaying dressed faces with reeded and hatched decoration, while others feature diamond broaching. The ground floor windows and entrance were added in the 19th century, but two small upper windows have chamfered surrounds and likely originally had stone mullions. The listing does not include other farm buildings.
