Description

Church House Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century, is a farmhouse with a wall to the front garden. It is constructed of Flemish bond brown brick set on a sandstone plinth, with a roof that was originally slate but has been replaced with cement slates. The building has two storeys plus an attic and features a symmetrical three-window pediment gable facing the road, alongside a two-storey, two-window lower wing to the right, which may be older.

The main entrance consists of a door with five fielded panels located in a recessed round-arched porch. On either side of the porch, there are three-light flush sash windows, with configurations of 4 panes, 12 panes, and 4 panes. The upper storey has three flush 12-pane sash windows, while the attic features one flush unequal 9-pane sash window. All windows are adorned with wedge lintels and projecting stone cills. The right wing includes two flush small-pane casements (one of which has been replaced) under gauged brick flat arches on the lower storey, and two smaller casements on the upper storey directly beneath the eaves. The former right corner has flush sandstone quoins, which have been built against by a one-bay extension, likely from the early 19th century.

The attached garden wall features large sandstone blocks with bevelled tops on the left side and smaller sandstone blocks with weathered copings on the front. Inside the farmhouse, there are five-panel doors and an open well stair with a swept rail, stick balusters, and shaped brackets, probably made of oak but painted.
