Description

ALVANLEY C.P. HELSBY ROAD SJ 47 SE South West Side 4/13 Walnut Tree Farmhouse. 8/1/1970 GV II Farmhouse, C17, altered and extended, of coursed rubble sandstone, with front and left end wholly pebbledashed; extension in brick, painted; graded grey slate roofs. 2 1/2 and 2 storeys; T-shaped with projecting front wing of 2 storeys, 2-storey right wing and 2 1/2 storey left wing, each of 1 window. 3 rendered chimneys: on ridge at junction of central and left wing; behind ridge; projecting on gable of left wing. A 5-light mullioned window to upper storey in right end gable, each outer light blocked. Hollow-moulded stone band at 1st floor of right wing; bands encased in pebbledash above window to each storey of front wing gable. Windows in front gable, front and end gable of left wing and to 3rd storey right end gable of left wing and 3 windows to rear are small-pane casements of mid C19 type; other windows replaced, in keeping. Interior: Inglenook in rear central room has damaged ovolo-moulded sandstone sides and cambered ovolo oak bressumer. Chamfered oak beams; some oak small framing; stairs replaced.
