Description
Wickenlow Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been altered and is now used as a house. It is built from coursed sandstone rubble with quoins and features a stone slate roof with chimneys at both ends, positioned just in front of and just behind the ridge. The building has a two-bay end baffle-entry plan and a continuous rear outshut under a catslide roof, which extends over a modern lean-to at the right end.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, with a doorway at the right end that has a segmental-headed moulded surround. There are two windows on each floor; the windows in the first bay have been altered, while those in the second bay are original. The ground floor features a 5-light double chamfered stone mullion window with a hoodmould, and above it is a 4-light window with chamfered mullions. The left return wall has been altered, and a large modern addition was in the process of construction at this end in 1984. At the rear, a low gabled dormer now breaks through the roof of the outshut in the first bay.
Inside, the housepart in the second bay includes a large inglenook with a bressummer and a heckpost with a billet-moulded head. All ceiling beams are chamfered with cyma stops, and there is a timber-framed partition separating the first bay.
