Description

A farmhouse (No. 6) and an attached row of cottages, likely dating to the 18th century, have been altered over time. The building is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble. No. 6 features quoins, a stone slate roof with gable chimneys, and one chimney located behind the ridge. Cottages 7-10 have a slate roof with three chimney stacks along the ridge and one at the right gable. No. 6 is set back and has a roughly L-shaped, double-pile plan, except for the first bay, which has a monopitched roof. The other cottages are double-pile and single-fronted. All properties are two storeys high. No. 6 has a plain doorway offset to the right, a horizontal rectangular window to the left of this, and paired large rectangular casement windows with glazing bars on each floor. Cottages 7-10 have doorways on the left and one window on each floor, mostly altered and occasionally enlarged. The rear elevation has altered openings, except for the doorways. A left-end wall of No. 6 incorporates quoins from an earlier building. The property is listed for its group value with Brandwood Fold Farmhouse.
