Description

Church Farm Farmhouse and attached out-buildings is a house dating from the mid-17th century, which was refaced in the mid and late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick, originally timber framed with some remaining timbers. The roof is hipped and covered with pantiles, featuring a single red brick ridge stack and a rendered stack on the right. The eaves on the right side have a dentil design. The building is two storeys high and consists of five bays.

The original layout included a baffle entry. From left to right on the ground floor, there is a single tripartite glazing bar Yorkshire sash, a blocked doorway, another single similar sash, a part-glazed door, and a final single similar sash. All the sashes are set under segmental arches. On the upper floor, from left to right, there is a single tripartite glazing bar Yorkshire sash, a smaller single glazing bar Yorkshire sash, and two similar tripartite sashes. A single round tie plate is also visible.

To the left of the farmhouse is a single-storey outbuilding made of red brick with a pantile roof and dentil eaves, featuring a large opening and a single glazing bar casement on the left. At the rear, there is a storey extension. The building shows evidence of wall plates at both the front and rear, with the rear set on a coursed rubble plinth. It retains remains of three main posts and two braces.

Inside, the farmhouse contains many beams, including a large chamfered central beam in the central room, where this beam and some others have ogee stops. There is also an inglenook fireplace present.
