Description

This milestone, located west of Cambeck Bridge, was erected in 1807 for the Longtown-Brampton Turnpike Trust. It is made of red sandstone and is set at an angle to provide two faces for traffic directions. One side has the number 9 incised, indicating the miles to Longtown, while the other side shows the number 3, indicating the miles to Brampton. The milestone is whitewashed, with the numbers highlighted in black.
