Description
Sandysike is a house built in the mid-18th century, specifically dated 1760, with the initials GCL displayed above the entrance. It underwent additions around 1820. The exterior features incised stucco on a painted chamfered plinth, painted stone quoins with V-shaped joints, and a plain stone cornice. The roof is slate with coped gables and kneelers, and there are ashlar chimney stacks.
The house is two storeys high and has three bays, with a two-bay extension to the left under a common roof and a single-storey, single-bay extension to the right, which has a lead hipped slate roof. The entrance features a six-panel top-glazed door with a shouldered moulded architrave, an ornamented frieze, and a console bracketed dentilled moulded triangular pediment. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are surrounded by plain painted stone. The extensions include tripartite sash windows on the ground floor and two-pane sashes above. There is also a two-storey, two-bay extension at the rear, positioned at right angles to the main house. The listing excludes outbuildings.
