Description
Melita Cottage is a Grade II listed building located on Grafton Road in Yardley Gobion. This cottage, which was originally part of a row of three cottages, dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a thatched roof with brick stacks at each end. The cottage is two stories high and has a three-window range, with originally one-unit plans.
The central entrance has a part-glazed plank door set within a 20th-century porch, flanked by blocked doors, both with wooden lintels. The cottage has two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, all featuring wooden lintels. The windows on the first floor are located in eyebrow dormers, while the windows to the left of the center have cast-iron lattice casements. There is also a 20th-century single-storey, two-window extension on the right end.
Inside, the cottage includes chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a cambered chamfered bressumer.
