Description

A row of three cottages, originally five, located on Moorend Road in Yardley Gobion. The cottages date to the late 17th century, with one cottage bearing a date of 1671, and the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with a thatched roof and brick end and ridge stacks. The row originally had a four-window range. The cottages likely started as single-unit dwellings. A plank door is present at No.3, while Nos.5 and 7 have 20th-century doors. There are blocked doors to the right of centre and to the left of the door at No.3, all with wooden lintels. The ground floor features three-light casement windows with wooden lintels; the first floor has two-light casements within eyebrow dormers. A two-storey, one-window extension from the mid-19th century, with a slate roof and 20th-century casements, is attached to the right. Inside No.3, there are ogee-stop-chamfered and chamfered spine beams, along with two open fireplaces featuring chamfered bressumers. No.7 contains a chamfered spine beam and an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer. A datestone from the right gable of No.5, now located in the attic of No.7, is inscribed with "1672/1H AH".
