Description

A pair of cottages located in Yardley Gobion, dating back to the 17th century with later alterations. They are constructed of coursed squared limestone with a thatched roof, brick ridge stacks, and end stacks. The cottages have a two-story, three-window front and a three-unit plan. A plank door is situated to the left of centre of No. 37, with a wooden lintel, and a similar door is located to the right of centre of No. 39, also with a wooden lintel that extends over a two-light casement window to the right. A three-light casement window is present on the ground floor at the centre, under a wooden lintel, and two-light casement windows are found on the first floor within eyebrow dormers. A single-storey extension projecting from the ground floor far left has a hipped slate roof, and a smaller single-storey extension projecting from the ground floor far right has a corrugated asbestos roof. The interior of No. 37 features chamfered spine beams with ogee stops, an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, and old quarry tile floors.
