Description
Number 32 (Homestead Cottage), 34, and 36 are a row of cottages located on Moored Road in Yardley Gobion. They date from the late 17th century but have older origins and some 20th-century alterations. The cottages are two stories high with a four-window main range for No. 32, and they are arranged in an L-plan. The exterior is made of coursed limestone rubble with a thatched roof, featuring brick ridge and end stacks. The doors are from the 20th century and have wooden lintels, while the windows are also 20th-century casements set in older openings, with one or two lights and wooden lintels. The first-floor windows are located in eyebrow dormers.
Inside No. 32, there is an older two-unit core to the right of the center, which includes a central cruck truss. The blades of the truss are embedded in the wall and feature a saddle, Ugee-stop-chamfered spine beams, and two open fireplaces with stop-chamfered bressumers, one of which includes a bread oven.
