Description

Yoah Cottage is a Grade II listed building that was originally three tenements. It dates from the mid 17th century and was extended to the north in the 18th century. The cottage features rubblestone and cob walls that are rendered and color washed, topped with a thatched roof that is hipped at both ends. There are brick stacks located at the left hip apex and at the ridge to the right of center. The building is 1½ storeys tall, with the south end being higher than the north end. It has six windows with irregular fenestration, consisting of two and three light casements, some with glazing bars and some without. The windows have wooden cills and lintels. There are four eyebrow dormers with wooden casements, featuring a mix of three, two, three, and two lights. The front door, located approximately at the center, is a re-made plank door with muntins and one glass light, dating from the 20th century.

Inside, the cottage has slightly chamfered ceiling beams with stepped stops. The left stack has an open fireplace with dressed stone jambs and a chamfered oak lintel that is dress stopped. The right stack features brick jambs and an oak lintel, with a bread oven on the right side, dating from the 18th century.
