Description
Moat Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage, possibly originally a barn, dating from the 17th century and comprising several builds. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with rendered gable ends, topped by a thatched roof and featuring 20th-century brick end stacks. The building is one storey with an attic. The entrance has a board door set in a sturdy wooden surround beneath a hefty chamfered wooden lintel. To the left of the door is a 2-light small-paned iron-framed casement window with wooden lintel, and to the right is a tiny single-light window. There are also two round wall-tie ends and a brick-dressed 2-light eyebrow dormer. To the right, there is a low addition with a pantile roof. Inside, the left-hand room on the ground floor features an inglenook fireplace with a cambered bressumer.
