Description

West End House is a farmhouse, now a house, with an origin earlier than the date of 1822, which is inscribed on the east gable. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone and coursed limestone rubble, with a hipped slate roof and stone end stacks. It is three storeys high, with a three-window front. There is an eaves cornice. The central entrance is below the cornice, with a panel containing a fluted keystone and foliar motifs. It has 20th-century glazed double doors and an overlight. The ground and first floors have 8/8 sash windows, and the second floor has 4/8 sash windows, all with fluted keystones. There are plain flush bands at window head level. A rear wing is of earlier date, but has been substantially altered and its roof raised; it has plain tiles, an end stack, casement windows, and some blocked openings with wooden lintels. A lean-to beyond is partly constructed of chequered brick. The interior has not been inspected.
