Description
This is a late 16th and early 17th century farmhouse, likely originally two cottages and now a house. It is constructed from roughly-dressed limestone rubble, with some ironstone banding on the left side, and has a slate roof and end chimney stacks; the left stack is stone, and the right is brick. The front has two storeys and three windows. The ground floor features a sash window with a stone lintel and flush keystone, a 20th-century door in a similar opening, a blocked door with a gauged stone head, and another sash window with a similar head to the right. The first floor has casement windows of three, two, and three lights, each with a gauged stone head. The left-hand chimney stacks are carved with three trefoils, a mark associated with the Tresham family. A later red brick wing extends to the rear. Internally, the room on the left-hand side has chamfered cross beams, and the very thick, partially hollow-sounding end wall suggests a possible surviving inglenook fireplace behind the present 20th-century fireplace. The room on the right-hand side has deeply-chamfered cross beams and an 18th-century two-panel door.
