Description

Stoneleigh is a house dating to the late 17th century, which was remodelled in the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with a tiled roof, and features a central stone stick. The house is two storeys and has an attic, arranged as a 3-bay facade. A late 19th-century stone porch links the house with an attached outbuilding opposite, featuring a doorway with side-lights and a half-glazed door with an overlight containing stained glass. There are three-light windows on either side of the porch, each with stone hoods, wooden mullions, and old iron casements. A three-light window in the left bay on the first floor has a wooden lintel and old iron casements. A two-light stone mullioned window is centrally located and blocked. A similar three-light window, one of which is blocked, is found in the right bay. Three 19th-century gabled dormers are present. Gable ends are coped and feature kneelers. Inside, the ground floor rooms contain a set of chamfered beams, and there is an open fireplace which has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The attached outbuilding dates to the 17th century and was remodelled in the 19th century. It is built of coursed squared ironstone, with a rear wall rebuilt in brick, and has a tile roof. The interior of the outbuilding has not been inspected.
