Description

Quince Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations and subdivision in the 19th century and renovation in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with a slate roof, and has brick ridge and end stacks. The house follows a three-unit lobby-entry plan. It is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window front. A 20th-century stone porch with a 20th-century door is located to the left of centre. The window arrangement is irregular, featuring two 3-light hollow-chamfered stone mullion windows to the first floor on the right side, and otherwise 2- and 3-light 20th-century casements with timber lintels. A 3-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window is located in the gable end of the first floor on the right. It has a chamfered plinth, quoins, and hollow-chamfered stone eaves. Internally, the house features ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams, and an open fireplace with an ogee-stop-chamfered bressumer.
