Description

This is a house located at 18A on the A6003, with a datestone marking its construction in 1670. It is built from squared coursed ironstone and features a Collyweston slate roof. The house has a three-unit plan and is a single storey with an attic. The front has a three-window range of renewed three-light stone mullion windows, and there is a small attic window below the eaves with a moulded stone surround. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with glazed toplights, which is sheltered by a wooden porch with a hipped roof.

To the right of the windows, there are two-stage buttresses, and there is evidence of re-fenestration on the left side. The gable parapets and stacks at the ridge and end are made of ashlar stone. The datestone is positioned to the right of the door. The gables on either side have casement windows under wooden lintels and show signs of an 18th-century roof line. The rear of the house features a 19th-century extension, and the rear door has a wooden arch-head surround.

Inside, the staircase has short 18th-century balusters that are likely reset. The central room contains a larger open fireplace with a moulded bressumer, and the room at the rear includes a beehive oven.
